Three Types Of Poker TablesDifferent players have different poker table preferences; how would you go about choosing what poker table is the right one for your home? Essentially, there are three basic types of poker table; you must be able to choose which one will suit your poker needs, based on availability of space, quality of the poker table, and especially the price. Generally, poker tables have a standard size of around 84" x 42", measured as 2100mm x 1050mm, or 7 feet x 3 ½ feet. The place setting is usually for about eight-to-ten poker players. The surface of the table is normally made of MDF foam (this is high quality), and it is covered with either of the following covers: rubber, vinyl or faux gaming suede. The table should be covered with a good quality of covering that allows smooth play; the surface should be soft, just enough for players to easily pick up the chips but firm enough to pile the chips without worrying about them falling. Take a look at these three types of available poker tables on the market, and take a closer look at their good points/bad points. Table-Top: This is the entry level alternative. This should be the cheapest means to acquire your poker table. This one is simple and easy to do; first you'll need a regular table big enough to support the slate. Place the table-top on top of your regular table and it's done. You need to choose a table that is the same size of the table top to avoid it tipping over. You might have a problem with the stability of the table-top if you choose a smaller table for your table top. A table-top is the cheapest amongst poker table alternatives in the market, and you can easily store the table-top when it is not in use. Fold-Away: This is for the mid-range buyers and has mid-range quality. The good thing is that a fold-away table is easy to store when not in use, and this is easy to assemble compared to solid models. But the bad point is the stability of the legs. Because this is folding the legs are easily tilted and might be tipped over. However, if you are living in an apartment this folding poker table could be your best option. Solid Construction: This is the poker table that is built to stay wherever you decided to put it. You will have to put out a lot of money to have this; this will also require more space in your place. One of the bad points, aside from the fact that this table will cost more than you might imagine, is that you cannot store this table away if not in use. But a good point is that this will let the player feel that they are in a real casino with the real poker table. Before purchasing a poker table, consider your budget, the space where you plan to put it and the quality of the table. Choose the one that will make you feel most comfortable when playing the game of poker. |
